Violon étain

A violin fills the canvas at a steep angle, its body, f-hole and strings picked out in mottled pewter whites against a near-black ground. A red butterfly trails a ribbon of musical notes at upper left, and a pale treble clef floats below. The speckled, granular surface catches the light like worn metal, giving the dark composition a quiet glow.
