Deep red, terracotta and crimson build up in dense, overlapping strokes across this vertical canvas. In the upper left, a dark purple-brown hollow opens around a small glow of yellow-green, the strongest contrast in the work. Elsewhere, lighter pinks and touches of ochre surface through the reds, giving the thick, worked paint a smoldering warmth.
