Deep ultramarine and teal cover the canvas in a raised, pitted relief, like the surface of water seen from above. Patches of yellow-gold light break through along diagonal lines that seem to radiate from a point just below the center. The thick, sculpted paint gives the blues their depth, against which the gold reads as scattered reflections.
